1. Summary of problem
Following the ADC installation in May 2004, we noted these problems:
- Images in one corner of the field were severely elongated.
- The image scale on Dan Kelson's first ADC slit mask was wrong. A slit mask for a field later in the night had a good scale. Similar astrometry quality on the data; coordinates included refraction corrections generated by Kelson; masks may not have been laser-cut on the same night (they were submitted about four days apart).
- After a few hours (up to four), the images in the principal guider gets worse. The image quality in the data (spectroscopy) seems OK, though.
2. Experiments
Dressler and Hare will be at LCO from next Thu to next Mon.
- Focus on the centerfield S-H and set up. Look at principal guider images as a function of instrument rotation. Also check the non-center S-H camera focus in direct imaging mode.
- Obtain Hartmann mask images of a star field followed immediately by a pinhole mask Hartmann test.
