IMACS engineering in January

A proposal to take IMACS off-line for an extended period to work on finishing the commissioning tasks was discussed. David Osip was reluctant to make a firm decision without a clear plan in place but agreed that something like this was needed. After some discussion, using two 10-12-day periods in January and February 2005 were suggested and Ian will discuss this possibility with the scheduling people. Nighttime engineering should be scheduled within the off-line periods to allow for testing and measurements.

Frank notes there are generic problems with loose parts on IMACS and suggests a general check and reassembly. This could take a long time.

The first thing to do is update the IMACSTasks page with new tasks and priorities. From there, a detailed plan and schedule for doing the work will be built.

IMACS measurements

Tyson Hare and David Osip reviewed measurements and adjustments made in July, 2004 (IMACSEngineeringRunJuly04 and IMACSGuideCameraMotionMeasurement as well as entries in the forums at http://comet.lco.cl/WebLogs/forum/forum.php?which=IMACSforum. A couple of things were fixed (z-bar tripod, missing pin in a drive gear) and they are expected to have been useful but insufficient testing (due to bad weather) has been done to confirm anything.

A-list review

Nothing was added; the list on EngineeringMeetings was updated.
