A New Ultraviolet Perspective on Several Famous Stellar Prototypes

Mark Seibert (OCIW)

ABSTRACT

Wide field ultraviolet imaging from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) space telescope has opened a new perspective on Galactic stars. The various surveys currently underway have revealed exciting new facts about some of the most well studied stellar prototypes. I will discuss three recent ultraviolet based discoveries concerning a dwarf nova system, an asymptotic giant branch star, and a simple F star.
